The Spirit of Adventure 2.0

On the north side of Palm Springs lies San Gorgonio Pass where I-10 goes west through the mountains heading towards LA.. Stretching for miles along the pass and spilling into the valley there are approximately 2200 windmills of varying sizes, generations and manufacturers. M any stand over 200 feet tall with 3 blades that are each 125 feet long Winds of 8-10 mph will start the windmill and at  50-60 mph they shut themselves down to keep from damaging themselves There are various types and sizes of windmills showing the evolution of windmills due to the constant search for increased efficiency and reliability . In the photo above you see where some of the older Eiffel tower type windmills have been replaced by newer generation windmills after they failed. Testing showed that critical, structural bolts would come lose due to wind generated vibrations. They now have maintenance people come out regularly to climb the remaining older generation ...

We left Mesa Az. on 1/30 traveling west to spend 2 nights boon docked in the desert during the latest Super Moon Looks like the sun coming up doesn't it? It was incredible being out in the desert by ourselves and watching the Super Moon rise Onward to Palm Springs... Palm Springs is a 2 hour drive from Los Angeles and back in the day many Hollywood types like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin. Dina Shore and Gene Autry had weekend homes here. Back in the early nineties Sonny Bono was Mayor This place is much like Naples Florida except there are movie stars here, there is very little humidity,..... oh yeah, and there is no beach. The downtown area is very walkable and there are many nice shops, restaurants and plazas  On Thursday evenings they have and street festival with hundreds of vendors of all types lining the main street selling crafts, food, etc... there are also street musicians    The Thursday evening street festival ...

We had a quick trip back to Florida flying out of Phoenix on 1/23 to Tampa and returning on 1/25. We spent 9 hours in the air flying and less that 36 hours on the ground in Florida It definitely wasn't a pleasure trip,... more like taking care of business  For all our friends and family who haven't heard yet, Debbie had another fantastic checkup and Dr. Fernandez feels very confident that this is all behind her. He was very happy about the adventure she is now living and the way she is making the most it. He encouraged her to let her memories of Moffit fade from her daily life . Now it's back to living the good life  Making it a Great Day!!!

After spending the month of December in Tucson as the New Year approached we moved 2 hours north to Mesa & Scottsdale area of Arizona With all the cold weather up north during January we are staying at the Val Vista Village Resort in Mesa for the month of January Although it is a mostly .....older crowd here, they are very active and like to have fun. Happy Hour is from 3:00 to 5:00 Mon. - Sat. at the pool side cabana bar. There is a different live band every day playing different types of music from Country to Rock to Zydeco.  Lots of dancing These folks will line dance to anything... from Alan Jackson to ZZ Top and everything in between. Of course if you had too happy a happy hour you don't have to worry about driving your car home You can always catch a ride in someone's golf cart. People drive their golf carts everywhere. Of course there is the usual tennis, pickle ball and shuffle board 16 shuffle board courts with bleachers for all...
