Oklahoma City
One of the places we have wanted to see for years is the Oklahoma City National Memorial
On April 19, 1995 the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City was blown up by Timothy McVey and Terry Nichols because they were angry at the government over the Waco incident.
193 people were killed that day by domestic terrorists while going about their day at work.
Of the 193 killed 15 were children at the day care center in the Federal Bldg.
The Oklahoma City National Memorial was built on the site of the Murrah Federal Building .
Today, where the building once stood there is a lawn where 193 chairs sit.
Each representing a person lost that day.
There is also a museum that tells the story of that day, the rescues that took place in the rubble and the way the community came together.
It is an amazing story and we would recommend this memorial and museum to anyone visiting the OKC area.
While in OKC we quickly learned that it can be very windy here.
This concrete tornado shelter sits at the campground office where we stayed.
Although windy it was nothing compared to the way Hurricane Irma rocked us
After spending a windy night in OK we were able to add Oklahoma to our map
With our planed route we may not be adding any ore states until next fall
